According to him, his administration will continue to work with relevant stakeholders and the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of crime in the state are dealt with headlong.
“We would on our own as Government continue to support the Nigerian Army and other Security agencies in all manners to ensure security of lives and property in Adamawa State,” Governor Fintiri stated.
The governor assured his support to Nigerian military to consolidate on curbing the activities of criminals trying to make the state ungovernable to its citizens.
For the officers, who paid the supreme price during the course of duty, Governor Fintiri prayed to God to grant their souls eternal rest and their loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The governor, therefore, expressed hope that the WASA, among other events, will be sustained and improved upon because of its immense benefits to both the barracks community as well as the state.
The Brigade Commander, 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, Brigadier-General Paul Kefas Zawaya, said WASA creates atmosphere for relaxation to mark the end of the year’s activities and to usher-in activities of the New Year.
While tracing the history of the military regimental event as far back as the Second World War, Zawaya noted that, “That was when the Nigerian Army fought as part of the large West Africa Frontier Force.”
The Army Brigadier-General, however, said “At that period, indigenous Nigerian Army personnel celebrated their cultural heritage at the end of every year.”
