The Senator representing Plateau North at the National Assembly, Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang, has decried the incessant killing of innocent villagers recently in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The lawmaker explained that, “From the look of things, Plateau State seems to have been marked by merchants of destabilization to create havoc and dislocate the very fabrics that set us apart as peaceful people.”

The Senator noted that, “If the situation in Bokkos is not handled decisively and with the urgency it deserves, the perpetrators will carry on with the impression that they are above the law of the land.”

He, therefore, charged security agencies to track down the perpetrators of these killings in Bokkos and other parts of the State so as to guarantee public safety.

He used the opportunity to assure the people of the State of his resolve to work with his colleagues to ensure that the present push for State Police and related legislations gets the needed nod by the National Assembly.

The Senator also condoled with the immediate families who lost loved ones in the unfortunate attack, the people of Bokkos and the State over the unfortunate situation, while praying to God to heal the injured and grant eternal rest to the deceased.

In a similar development, the Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Bako Lalong, has condemned the recent attacks in villages of Hurti, Ruwi and others in Bokkos Local Government, leading to deaths of innocent citizens. 

According to him, the attacks are barbaric, questionable and condemnable, saying, “This unfortunate situation must be brought to an end.” 

While sympathising with families of the victims and the entire people of Bokkos Local Government, Lalong said the continuous onslaught against the innocent citizens cannot be allowed to go unpunished. 

He appreciated President Bola Tinubu for giving stern directives to security agencies to fish out the perpetrators, urging them to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the merchants of death are held to account. 

He also acknowledged the directives by the President to Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, to deliver relief materials to the victims and ensure that they get succor.

The Senator urged the State Government to deploy all its might in tackling the condemnable action of wicked persons determined to jeopardise the peace and security of Bokkos and Plateau State at large.
