During the flagging-off re-run campaign of Northern Senatorial District and House of Representatives of Jos/Bassa of the PDP.

Plateau residents have been urged to ignore individuals using religious and ethnic sentiments to divide the people – an act that ignores the importance of unity for peace and harmony in the state.

This assertion was made by former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah David Jang, while speaking over the weekend during the flagging-off of campaign for the re-run election for Plateau North Senatorial District and the Jos/Bassa House of Representatives, which was ordered by the Court of Appeal Judgment in Abuja,.

While highlighting the Plateau’s historical allegiance to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Jonah Jang commended the late Chief Solomon Lar for “laying a solid foundation for the party in Plateau and Nigeria at large.”

He appealed to National and State Assembly lawmakers whose mandates were nullified at the Appeal Court to exercise patience as the party awaits the decision of the National Judicial Council on unjust judgments.

Our correspondent reports that, Plateau North Senatorial District witnessed a surge of enthusiasm, as residents pledged to re-elect former Minority Leader, Sen. Simon Mwadkwon, and Hon. Musa Avia Agah of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the upcoming February 3, 2024 re-run election.

The supporters, from the PDP across the six Local Government Areas in the zone, gathered at the Langfield Event Centre for the campaign flag-off of the re-run election for Plateau North Senatorial District and Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency.

Governor Mutfwang, while addressing the energized crowd during the event, expressed gratitude for their steadfast support over the years.

He urged them to turn out in large numbers and vote decisively for Sen. Simon Mwadkwon and Musa Agah, emphasizing their commitment not only to the PDP but to the entire people of Plateau State.

While thanking them for their commitment, devotion, and determination, not just to the PDP but to the people of Plateau State, Mutfwang added that, the people of Plateau State have a covenant with the PDP, and that’s why they have always stood by them.

The governor also appreciated the voters for their support during the 2023 elections, despite economic challenges, and encouraged them to replicate that support on February 3, 2024.

“It is time for us to show the people of Plateau State that we do not take this responsibility lightly and, therefore, we have the duty and responsibility to go to every nook and cranny of the six local government areas of Plateau North to ensure that these two gentlemen return to the National Assembly,” he urged.

He called on INEC to remain an “unbiased party” in the re-run election, assuring Plateau residents that PDP would be on the ballot and would win convincingly.

Also speaking, Chairman of the party, Hon. Chris Hassan, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support the party has received from the people, and acknowledged Governor Mutfwang’s unprecedented performance in the last 7 months.

In their own remarks, Sen. Simon Mwadkwon and Hon. Musa Agah, the Plateau North Senatorial Candidate and Candidate for Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, respectively, thanked the people for their support in previous elections, assuring that they would continue to be the voice of Plateau in the National Assembly.

Hon. Davou Mang, Plateau North PDP Chairman, Chief Raymond Dabo, the Chairman PDP Elders Forum, and Hajiya Jemila Gwandu, among others, reaffirmed their total support for the party’s victory in the re-run election.
