The Plateau State Government has constituted a ten-man “high-powered” Sub-Committee to harmonise issues canvassed during the recent interaction with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While inaugurating the Committee by Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State at the Twin Theatre, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, he said the initiation was aimed at articulating a coordinated framework for future engagements with the Presidency and other relevant Federal Government institutions, in the overall interest of Plateau State.
The Committee Members include: Chief Joshua Chibi Dariye (former Governor) and Senator of Plateau State as Chairman; Dame Pauline Tallen as Member; Sheikh Ghazali Ismail Adam, Member; Bishop Jwan Zumbes, Member; Hon. Sani Muazu, Member; Rev. Gideon Para Mallam, Member; Hon. Sani Suleiman Maigoro, Member; Barr. Panmak Lere, Member; Mrs. Esther Gonda, Member, and Dr. Sumaya Hamza, Member.
The committee will also be assisted by Dr. Julie Sanda and Dr. Joseph Lenmang, who will serve as the Secretariat.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang says, the committee is expected to harmonise issues and concerns raised during the interaction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to develop a comprehensive agenda for future discussions and engagements with the Presidency and relevant Federal Government agencies.
Committee’s terms of reference is to “Identify priority areas requiring Federal Government’s intervention and collaboration, and to recommend strategic measures aimed at promoting peace, unity, security, social cohesion, and sustainable development in Plateau State.”
The committee is also expected to “Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure inclusiveness and broad-based consultations in the discharge of its assignment, and also submit a detailed report and recommendations to the government within seven (7) days, from the date of inauguration.”
The governor expressed confidence in the capacity, experience, and commitment of the committee members and urged them to diligently carry out the responsibility entrusted to them, in the overall interest of the state.
This development further buttresses the commitment of the Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang administration to “fostering constructive engagement” with the Federal Government towards addressing critical developmental and security concerns affecting Plateau State.
