JOS: The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) wishes to inform the public that it is set to conduct re-run elections for Councillorship positions in nine wards across six Local Government Areas of the State.

This follows the Commission’s earlier announcement regarding re-run elections in specific wards where voting irregularities were recorded during the initial election. A statement to this effect was signed and issued to newsmen by Head of Media, Koro Yakubu, in Jos on Thursday.

In addition to the previously announced wards, PLASIEC has added three more wards in two additional LGAs to the list. These include Fier and Mudkang Yelleng wards of Pankshin Local Government Area as well as Ampang East B of Kanke Local Government Area.

These additions are due to further review and findings from the post-election assessment.

The re-run elections will now take place in nine wards across six Local Government Areas to include Kishika ward of Bassa Local Government Area as well as Jemkur and Turaki wards of Langtang South.

The Re-run elections will also be conducted in Gindiri 2 and Kasuwan Ali wards of Mangu Local Government Area and Luukwo ward of Quaan’pan Local Government Area.

While same elections will hold in Fier and Mudkang Yelleng wards of Pankshin Local Government Area, Kanke Local Government Area will hold re-run elections in Ampang East.  

The elections, which will hold across a total of one hundred and twelve polling units, will commence between 8.00am and 3.00pm on Saturday, 19th October 2024.

The Commission assured that, PLASIEC remains committed to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election process that reflects the will of the people.

It also called on all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, and the electorate, to remain peaceful and comply with all election guidelines.
