Nigeria’s teeming citizenry have been urged not to go for Muslim or Christian leadership, but someone that will do justice to the people, irrespective of religious difference.
The Emir of Kano State Muhammad Sanusi Lamido, disclosed this in Jos during a courtesy call on the Gbong-Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, on Thursday.
Emir Sanusi stated that, he was in Jos for the memory of 50th years’ anniversary of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass, RTA.
He said, “It is of recent that Sheikh Inyass’ speech was released, which appears as if it is today he speaks. It was on my way from the airport that we committed with the former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.
“He was telling me the relationship with Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass; that his mutual relationship with Iyass. Some people say his name is after him. That invoked people to give maximum cooperation to Gowon’s administration,” he said, adding that “Iyass argued that the world politics acquired a leader that will do justice to the people, irrespective of religious differences.
“We always hope to see our people united. For those looking for trouble, may God never see them through; we need peace in Plateau State,” he stated.
The Emir further noted that, Jos has become a place where every Northerner wants to have a house, because many elites see Jos as a center for white peace (Europeans), and prayed for everlasting peace.
In responding, the Gbong-Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, said the Emir’s coming to Jos is a sign of unity between the people of Plateau and Kano, saying, “People have prayed over peace on the Plateau and Nigeria.
“We have been together for a very long time and we should not allow anything to come between us; and we should also be careful the way we play politics in Nigeria.
“The country is in a serious economic crisis, and we should continue to pray for the economic stability of the country and pray for memorial celebration to finish peaceful.”
