A Southern Kaduna traditional title holder, Isaac Dambvou Tanko (Marafan Tsoriyang), has exploded, saying there’s no difference between the current Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, and the immediately past governor, his successor Mal. Nasiru El-Rufai.
Mr. Tanko, in a statement shared with journalists Friday in Kaduna, dated 20th February 2025, alleged that “Southern Kaduna has never been ridiculed in the history of the state like in the hands of Senator Uba Sani,” urging his people to be wiser.
The statement, titled: ‘Is Uba Sani truly different from Nasiru El-Rufai in real sense? Be wiser my people. Southern Kaduna was never ridiculed in the history of the state like in the hands of Senator Uba Sani,’ Tanko added.
“I can’t imagine what the likes of Senator Tella La’ah used as their indices of falling and joining the Uba Sani-led government.”
In comparison, Tanko observed that, “El-Rufai had Christians in his kitchen cabinet. Uba Sani has no single Christian from Southern Kaduna on the dining table.”
He continued that, “El-Rufai allowed the opposition in Southern Kaduna to have their way during local government elections. Uba Sani did not allow the opposition/people to vote their choices.
“Mallam did not impose Muslims to be part of the local government system in Southern Kaduna, but Uba Sani did. Uba Sani imposed a Fulani Muslim as chairman in Kagarko Local Government, a Christian-dominated local government.
“He imposed a Muslim as Vice Chairman in Jaba Local Government. He imposed a Fulani man as vice in Kachia. He imposed Council Secretary on Jema’a and Speaker.
“During El-Rufai, the Deputy Governor was active during El-Rufai. She had six commissioners under her. But Uba stripped her now, with almost zero responsibilities. Uba Sani has no single Christian as Commissioner in any of the major Ministries.
“But during Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, we had Accountant-General, agriculture, education, works, and some major parastatals, including Ministry of Justice, including Budget and Planning, alongside Public Procurement Authority; sensitive offices, and he gave them free hands to run their affairs.
“Mallam had more Southern Kaduna Christians in his government than Uba Sani, today. Go and verify; the records are there.
“If Uba Sani claims to be a man of peace and a lover of Christianity and Southern Kaduna people, why didn’t Uba Sani replicate same by imposing a Christian in Ikara local government as chairman, where the population of Christians and Muslims is almost 50/50?
“Why didn’t Uba Sani appoint a Christian vice or Council Secretaries in Kubau, Giwa, Sabon Gari, Zaria and Lere local governments; in Lere also imposed a Muslim as chairman.
“They say, ‘charity begins at home.’ Uba Sani is more a religious bigot that El-Rufai. He would have used the north as examples of religious harmony. There is no single Christian in decision-making in his government today.
“There is no single project in Christian areas within Kaduna metropolis. The uncompleted ones by Mallam Nasiru have not been complicated. All the 12 roads projects he commissioned in the state are in Muslim-dominated areas.
“The venomous smiles need to be understood. At the end of El-Rufai’s first tenure and the second tenure when Uba Sani left as Senator, Mallam Nasiru had less issues with the people of Southern Kaduna than when Uba Sani was around as political adviser to El-Rufai.
“Uba Sani is being deceptive because he wants us to protect him in 2027. No governor has disrespected us by imposing Muslims on us and refused to replicate same in the northern part of the state.
“Even in Chukun, the vice is a Muslim. Only in Kaduna South that we have a Christian as vice chairman whom they almost removed. Is Uba Sani truly a lover of your faith?
Going for Christmas carols isn’t love for you, but political manipulation. How is he carrying Christians along? Prove me wrong with contrary analysis, if one has any.

Recalled that, eight years’ El-Rufai administration was allegedly tagged, “Anti- Southern Kaduna regime.” Contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Musa, could not respond till the time of filling these reports.
