A call has been made to security agencies in Plateau State to get those involved in the killings of innocent people and their sponsors and bring them to book.
The Plateau State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau State, Rev. Fr. Polycap Lubo, stated this in Jos, while reacting to the killings of innocent people in Mangu, Bokkos and Barki-Ladi local governments of Plateau State.
He observed that, “The killings were a spill-over of the farmers/herders crisis, and we see it as land-grabbing, too; and you see the kind of killing going on all the surrounding villages in Bokkos.”
According to him, “We, as Christians Association of Nigeria, we are not really happy; we are sad because it was the festive mode of Christians on Christmas Eve that this thing started, and a lot of killings have been done and killing are still going on.
“Nobody or right thinking person will be happy for this situation; we condemn this in-toto, and we pray that it will come to an end.
“But we still thank the military men, Major-General A.A. Adullsalam and his men, with the effort they have been putting in. We know they have done their best but they can do more by allowing troops to move in there and fish out the culprits,” he stated.
Rev.Fr. Lubo further stated that, “especially Governor Mutfwang, who had a link with President Tinubu, can equally send our cry to them that we need more security men so that the problem will stop or end.”
He called on the people of the Plateau that they should not take an early warning signal for granted, saying that, notice came to them that they would not celebrate Christmas, that, they are coming to attack and pack their rice and run with it, and it has come to pass.
“So, if you get that early warning signal, it is your duty to send a message to the security agencies so that they can take drastic action.
“So, what we are suggesting here is that, we are calling on our people to take what we call ‘preventive measures,’ not until something happens you begin to cry. When it is about happing, you stop it at the right time so that people will not lose their lives.
“I think our security agencies should beef up to screen such people, particularly Immigration Officers should step up and see, who and who are really a Nigerian.
“We do know a Fulani man living in Plateau cannot just kill like that, because they are hired killers. It is so sad and condemnable, and this thing will come to an end,” Rev Lubo stated.
