PLATEAU: Newly-appointed Supervisory Councilors and Advisers of Riyom Local Government Council have been sworn-in by the LGC Chairman, Hon. Sati Shuwa.

The chairman stated that, his administration would roll out “robust programmes and policies” that would transform the Council area into a modern, industrialized Local Government Area. He made the assertion during the swearing-in ceremony, which took place in the Riyom Local Government Council Secretariat.

The occasion was attended by prominent figures, including the representatives of the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, and the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, Leader and members of the Riyom Local Government Legislative Arm, traditional rulers, political leaders, youths, and women organisations, among others.

While appreciating the Leader and members of the Riyom Local Government Legislative Arm for the thorough and transparent screening exercise that culminated into the confirmation of the appointees, the chairman, Hon Shuwa, pledged his readiness to collaborate with them to enable them succeed in moving the Council forward.

He further thanked the people of the community for the trust and support accorded them during the Local Government elections, promising that their voices would be heard and their needs would also be met.

As he congratulated the new Councilors and Supervisors, the chairman urged them to see their appointment as a solemn call to add value to the development of the Local Government Area.

Hon. Shuwa further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment in addressing the security challenges across the Council area.

While administering the Oath Of Office, the Chief Magistrate of Riyom, Hon. Oluwatoyin Mafuyai, implored them to work together towards the realization of their dreams and the growth of the Local Government.

Also speaking, the representatives of the Governor of Plateau State and the Deputy Governor congratulated the celebrants and advised them to work assiduously to add significant value to the Local Government and the electorates, who gave them the mandate to represent them.

In his own remarks, Da-Gwom Rwei, Riyom, Samuel Jock, and the Chairman of the Plateau State Teachers Service Commission, Alex Chups, urged them to realize that, Riyom people are looking up to them. Therefore, they are expecting visible and impactful changes in the Council.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Ezekiel Danbwarang thanked the Council Chairman for the mandate given to them and assured that they would use their experiences to contribute meaningfully to the success of his administration. 

The newly-appointed Supervisory Councilors and their portfolios are: Na’aman Daras, Supervisory Councillor of Works and Housing; Solomon Pam, Supervisory Councillor of Social Services; Gwong Song (Deputy Chairman) takes charge of Agriculture and Natural Resources; Ezekiel Danbwarang takes charge of the Budget and Planning Department; and Asabe Daniel takes charge of Education.

In addition, Badung Dalyop to oversee the Water and Sanitation Department; Bakwap Wayo to oversee the Primary Healthcare Department; Moses Tep to take charge of Special Duties, While Luka Davou to oversee Finance and Supplies.

The Advisers are: Margaret Danbwarang, Bung Samuel, Moses Chung Pyem, Emmanuel Ibrahim, Luka Dalyop, Chai Ned Chups, and Emmanuel Dachollom. Others include: Gyang Badung, Davou Bulus, Isaac Dagut, and Dang Ngyang.

The chairman also approved the appointment of Jerry Basu as the Director of Research and Documentations and also approved the appointment of fifty Senior Special Assistants and one hundred and fifty Special Assistants.
