…As APU harps on strength, unity.

Chief Imam of Barkallahu Jummat Mosque, Kaduna, Sheikh Muhammad Aminu Sale, has asserted that, “Islamically, a Christian widow of late Muslim husband has nothing to inherit of her wealthy son’s properties when he died.”                          

He, however, explained that the only condition and exception is when the deceased’s son left behind a Will before his death, stressing that even with the Will, she’s only entitled to 6 percent of the son’s wealth.  

The imam gave the clarification, while fielding questions after his lecture at Auchi Day Celebration 2024, in Kaduna weekend.   

Earlier, in a welcome remarks, the President of Auchi Progressive Union (APU) Kaduna branch, Alh. A.M. Giwa, urged his members to work together for strength and unity, adding that togetherness they would overcome the challenges of time.

Alh. Giwa said the ceremony was organised to mark another year of togetherness, and to honour their shared values, traditions, and achievements.

“Today, we gather once again to celebrate our community’s strength, resilience, and unity. As we mark another year of togetherness, we honour our shared values, traditions, and achievements.

“To our APU members, your presence is a testament to the bonds that unite us. We have faced challenges, but our collective spirit has overcome them,” he said.

He also urged members to reflect on their accomplishments, reaffirm their commitment to one another and renew their pledge to build a brighter future, as they celebrate.

“Our community is more than just a geographical location; it’s a family. We’ve supported each other – through times of joy and sorrow, triumphs and struggles, growth and progress,” he stated.

According to him, Auchi Day celebration was organised to also honour their heritage, celebrate their diversity and forge stronger connections, calling for foster, inclusivity and understanding to empower their youth, women and seniors, promote peace, love, and kindness.

“This celebration is a reminder that, together, we can achieve greatness,” he said, while he appreciated the past presidents, vice presidents, patrons, APU women wing president, their chiefs and elders for their kind support and being part of the event.

Highlights of the occasion include, award of honour to distinguished personalities, who have contributed to the growth of the society, and members of APU in many ways.

Among personalities present at the occasion were former Commissioners of Youths, Edo State, and the retired Brigadier-General Ali Baba, who commended the organization of the annual celebration APU, describing as interesting and should be made to continue annually.

Also in an interview, Mrs. Zainab K. Owolabi, Rahab Ibrahim, among other special guests, highlighted the importance of the annual “get-together” that brings people together in unity and happiness.
