The Strategy and Result Delivery Office (SRDO), under the office of the Governor of Plateau State, has organised a five-day training for professionals and other stakeholders in the construction and procurement sectors of the state.
Governor Mutfwang, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Mrs Josephine Piyo, said that the exercise was “in tandem with its vision for the state.”
The governor said that “Initiative represents one among the series of capacity-building efforts aimed at enhancing the public sector for better service delivery.
“The timing of this exercise aligns perfectly with the state government’s ongoing commitment towards advancing quality physical and infrastructural development.
“This is being done through concerted collaboration among the relevant authorities, particularly at the local government level.
“The ongoing challenges regarding infrastructure delivery, evidenced by issues such as scope creep, cost overruns, and inadequate project risk management have resulted in several failed projects and ensuing governmental losses.
“Therefore, I wish to underscore the significance of this initiative to our administration, as infrastructure development remains a paramount priority articulated within the Plateau State Development Framework (PSDF) for the period 2023-2027,” he said.
He added that the training would strengthen the capacity of personnel within the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), particularly those involved in procurement and construction practices.
According to him, it would enable professionals to successfully deliver capital projects, maximize their impact, and establish a robust foundation for future developmental initiatives within Plateau State.
