About 104 Police Officers in Plateau State have been decorated, following their promotion with different ranks, in Jos, by the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina.

Those being decorated include 77 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), while 10 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) were moved to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP).

The ceremony, which took place at the Police Officers Mess, Jos, was attended by all Heads of Security Agencies on the Plateau, Traditional and Religious Rulers, as well as family and friends of the promotees.

Seventeen (17) Superintendent of Police (SP) were moved to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in an elaborate ceremony.

During the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police charged the officers to be steadfast, diligent, and responsible in their new capacities. 

He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity in their duties, reminding them of the critical role they play in maintaining peace and security in the State.

The CP commended the newly promoted officers for their hard work and dedication to duty, which has led to their promotion, while describing their upliftment in rank as “Well deserved.” 

CP Adesina took out time to remind the officers that the new ranks come along with higher responsibilities. Therefore, he urged them to brace up for the challenges ahead and remain dedicated to their duties.

The CP further encouraged them to serve the people of Plateau State with confidence, honor and distinction, and congratulated the new officers and wished them success in their new roles.

All Heads of Security Agencies took turns to give their goodwill messages to the officers, extending their congratulations and charging them to use their new ranks to promote peace and security on the Plateau. 

Responding, the CSP Tyopev Terna (former PPRO of the Command), who is among the newly-promoted officers of the Command, expressed their gratitude to the Commissioner of Police for organizing such an elaborate ceremony to honor them.

They thanked the Commissioner of Police for the recognition and appreciation shown to them, and also expressed their gratitude to other service chiefs for honoring them with their presence. 

The new Officers assured the CP that they would utilize their new ranks to the best of their abilities, to maintain peace and security throughout the State.

The officers extended their heartfelt thanks to their families and loved ones for their unwavering support throughout their careers. They acknowledged the sacrifices made by their families and the encouragement and understanding they received, which played a significant role in their professional growth and success.
