The Plateau State Police Command has held the opening ceremony of the Science Quiz Competition organized by the ‘C’ Divisional Police Officer, SP LarryCar Augustus. This is in accordance with the Inspector-General of Police directive of “Catch-them-young” policy. 

The unique initiative was aimed to promote and enhance scientific knowledge among secondary school students within the ‘C’ Division axis of Jos North LGA, fostering an appreciation for science and technology education, and bringing together budding young minds, educators, and science enthusiasts, who come from various secondary schools in the area, to showcase their expertise in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, and general scientific knowledge.

The opening ceremony of the event took place Wednesday at Faith Academy, No. 9 Richards Street, British American Junction, Opp. Flourish Super Market, and will close on 23rd November, 2023, at Jama’atu Nasril Islam College Masallacin Juma’a, Jos.

The Plateau State Police Command firmly believes in the power of education and regards it as a vital tool in uniting local communities and shaping the future of the society. 

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro J Alawari, has expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying that the Command is dedicated to empowering the youth and promoting the pursuit of knowledge. 

According to him, “This Science Quiz Competition, therefore, serves as an avenue to ignite a passion for science, which is an essential component in building a stronger, more innovative society and also makes for peace building within the State.

“The Command uses this opportunity to invite the Ministry of Education, members of the media, stakeholders, and the general public to attend this captivating Science Quiz Competition and witness the brilliance, curiosity, and ingenuity of the next generation of scientific prodigies.”
