A Pharmaceutical Company, Dexa, the producers of “Boska” pharmaceutical product, has donated helmets to 698 Okada riders in Gombe. The essence is to provide protection and safety of lives during accidents.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Ethical Orientation, Gombe State, Lieutenant Abdullahi Bello (rtd), commended Dexa Company for giving out such numbers of helmets to the commercial motorcycle riders in Gombe.
According to him, their effort was a measure aimed at protecting people’s lives because they are partners in progress in terms of revenue generation to the government.
He assured to extend the message to the governor, as a company, which came from afar, to donate helmets to thousands of the Okada Riders in Gombe.
Also speaking, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps for Gombe State, Mr Felix Theman, said “The importance of helmets cannot be overemphasized, because it is very important to all Okada Riders to wear helmets, for their own safety.”
He commended the Boska Company for its support, adding that, if such a company makes such a donation, it will assist them in their campaign for wearing helmets, and called on the Okada Riders to drive safely and use the helmets accordingly, because wearing helmets will reduce the number of deaths when accidents occur.
Dexa Company’s Digital Marketing Manager, Mr Tony Amadi, said they had given out helmets to the Okada Riders just to protect their lives.
He stressed that, they intend to donate more when the simulation called for it, but that they had made such donations to 600 Okada Riders in Sokoto, because helmets are very important, while driving.
Some Okada riders, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed their happiness, even though the enforcement of helmet use was not observed in Gombe, noting that, it would have been useful to them; thereby calling on all to emulate Dexa, because it cared about their lives.
