The Plateau State Commissioner of Police has received the coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations in his office at the Command Headquarters, in Jos, on Wednesday.
In his address, Mr Gad Peter Shamani, who led the team to the Command, stated that the aim of the visit was to share their thoughts on issues of concern in the forthcoming Local Government elections, and also to render assistance to the Police on other peace building-efforts in the State.
In the course of the meeting, both parties discussed possible issues, which may cause panic and chaos during the electioneering period, especially the recent rising trend of juvenile miscreants.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, applauded the impact of Non-Governmental Organisations in fostering peace within the State.
The meeting came to an end with both parties expressing their willingness to work together towards ensuring that the conduct of the forthcoming elections is peaceful.
In another development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, has decorated four (4) newly-promoted officers of the Command, who were elevated from the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) to the Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) by the Police Service Commission, as recommended by the Inspector-General of Police.
While addressing the promotees shortly after decorating them in his office at the Police State Headquarters Jos, CP Emmanuel Adesina told the new officers that they were privileged to be among the beneficiaries of the promotion, as many of their colleagues were caught off from the promotion as result of death, reprimand and for other obvious reasons.
He charged the newly-decorated officers to be more committed to their constitutional duties, justify their new ranks, and demonstrate exceptional leadership in the new capacity.
The officers were also told to note that, there could be changes in their various postings to offices suitable for their new rank.
The Police Commissioner, who blessed and prayed for the officers in light of their present and future ranks, tasked families of the new CSPs to continue to pray for the officers and wish them well in their lines of duty.
In his appreciation speech, CSP Babissa Timothy, who spoke on behalf of the promotees, assured the CP that they will be more committed in the discharge of their responsibilities and live up to the expectation of their new ranks.
