The Nigeria Police Force begins its activities to celebrate the National Police Day, which was pronounced by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on the 19th April, 2024, during the Nigeria Police Award and Commendation Ceremony in Abuja. 

The Plateau State Police Command leads its officers and men by the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbmiga Adesina, on a cleanup of Jos Metropolis, Terminus Round-About, which is usually called “Mama Tagun Round-About.”

Before the Commissioner proceeds to the cleaning up, he briefed his personnel at the Police Headquarters Jos, before ferrying out for the community service.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after grabbing the shovel in a bid to make the environment clean, CP Adesina said “Today is the second day of the Nigeria Police Force, which is set to host the maiden edition of National Police Day on April 7, 2025, at Eagle Square, Abuja, and we are here to clean the environment.

“We are here to tell our people that cleanliness is near to holiness. So, we should embrace cleanliness so that our environment will be cleaned.

“This is the heart of Jos City; and we are using this to past a message to our people that police wants every cream and corner of Jos or groups, Plateau should look clean.

“This historic event, which will run, from April 2 to April 7, 2025, will feature a series of impactful humanitarian and community-based activities, including medical outreaches, community engagements, exhibitions by security companies and partners, among other programs aimed at fostering stronger police-community relations.

“The National Police Day is designed to celebrate the dedication, sacrifices, and achievements of the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring national security.

“It will provide a platform to recognize the Force’s pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property, while reinforcing public trust and collaboration in maintaining law and order.

“The Plateau State Command, in commemoration of the National Police Day as approved by His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria declaring April 7th as National Police Day is aimed at honouring the dedication and sacrifices of Police Officers in securing the State, and with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

“The Plateau State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, has lined-up a series of activities in commemorating this day.

“In the light of the foregoing, the Commissioner of Police in company of members of his Management Team, held a Stakeholders/Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday at the Police Officers Mess, Jos, where he addressed critical issues related to security, and strategized on ways to prevent their reoccurrence in the future. 

“Also, the activities planned out for the National Police Day Celebration, by the Command, will also be carrying out the following activities: April 3, 2025 – Community Service/Sanitation of Public Areas, including the popular Terminus Market and other major roundabouts as part of its efforts to keep the State clean and peaceful. 

“While April 4, 2025 – the Command will also embark on Medical Outreach, which includes health talk, free tests, free distribution of medication, and other medical services at Abattoir Market, Jos.

“The Command will also organize a School Outreach/Sensitization Program on the same day, in collaboration with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), where we will engage students from various schools in discussions about the dangers of cultism and other related crimes. This will take place at the Police Field, Jos.

“On April 5, 2025 – Officers from the Command will participate in a Road Walk (Walkathon) from the Command Headquarters, No.25, JD Gomwalk Way, to Mopol 8 Barracks, Old Airport Road, Jos. This will emphasize the importance of fitness as part of our daily activities.

“CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina urges members of the public to join them in celebrating the 2025 National Police Day as a show of solidarity to the Police on the Plateau. He further encourages residents to turn out for the medical outreach to check their health status.”
