Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani

Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman, and Members of the State House of Assembly have been called upon to institute probe against Governor Uba Sani-led administration or resign.

In a statement personally signed and credited to Historian and Opposition Stalwart from Narom Village, Zonkwa Ward of Zangon-Kataf LGA, Kaduna State, the caller Mr. Edward John Auta, raised allegations of “incompetence, contract racketeering, and misappropriation of funds” plaguing the current administration.

The statement, dated 28th July 2025, and shared in Kaduna Wednesday, is entitled: ‘Dear Rt. Hon. Liman and Members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Probe Governor Uba Sani Now or Resign.’

It added that, “The people of Kaduna State hold you in high esteem. However, your palpable silence in the face of allegations of numerous infractions by the Uba Sani-led administration has raised serious concerns.

“Your probe of the former governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i, and his administration early last year was applauded by many. Despite its limitations, it showed that you can take bold actions. Today, allegations of incompetence, contract racketeering, and misappropriation of funds plague the current administration.

“Citizens question the Governor’s frequent absences from the state without transmitting power to his deputy, leading to failures in statutory Executive Council meetings, policy formulation, and project approvals,” it stated.

According to Mr Auta, the “Commissioners and heads of agencies are said to have been emasculated and unable to approve projects, while most of the projects undertaken by the government are said to have been awarded, based on favoritism and kickbacks,”

He emphasized that, “There are question marks surrounding the management of our LG allocations, with the Ministry for Local Governments used as a conduit to divert funds and stall development at the local level.

“The recent donation by the Governor to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, too, raises questions about transparency. Citizens deserve to know the total cost of the intervention, vehicle procurement details such as the name of the supplier and the selection process, and whether the funds were appropriated or captured in the state’s budget,” he stressed.

“As the vanguard of democracy, you have a duty to investigate these allegations and make findings public. This would promote accountability, protect the constitution, and ultimately dispel the notion of political motivation behind the El-Rufa’i probe.

“Mr. Speaker and Dear Honorable Members, failure to act would be a breach of trust, a loss of credibility, and an urgent need for your resignation. We urge you to live up to your sacred responsibility and take action to deepen democracy,” he warned.

Contacted for clarification, the spokesman of the Governor, Mal. Ibraheem Musa, confirmed the reports that, “the author is among the attention seekers, trying to utilize the democrats tenet of freedom of speech unnecessarily.”
