A resident of Gonin-Gora, a community located along Kaduna-Abuja expressway, has raised alarm over rampant cases of syndicates, who specialize in stealing borehole pump engines in the area.
The alarmist, Mr. Sola Fashimi, said about 40 borehole pump engines have so far been reportedly stolen from different compounds, particularly in Ungwan Bije, in Gonin Gora by the “Area Boys.”
He said three pump engines were stolen from his compound alone, while two others were stolen from neighborhood, lamenting that the last one of his own was pulled off with the wires and required over N150,000 to fix it.
According to Mr. Sola, the Area Boys moved around in the community at very odds hours, with diggers used to uproot and pull-off the borehole pumps from the ground.
Speaking at Invita Radio Forum program, Sola noted that, the cases of stealing of borehole pump engines have become rampant in Gonin Gora, U/Bije “After Bridge” in particular.
“The boys pulled the pump from ground. I leave in U/Bije, “After Bridge.” The Area Boys have been going to people’s compounds with diggers, severally. They came to my house, removed my pump and wire. I went to Sarki house, but he was not around. I will be going back again.
“I met Sarki’s junior brother. He said anybody we see in our compounds we should kill him. So, I’m using this opportunity to inform Police and Civil Defense Corp to parade the area in the night to provide security lacking in the place.
“No security on the night; it’s not for security to stay in Barack. So, I’m using this opportunity to tell Gonin-Gora boys that anybody we see in our compound, we will kill him there,” he said.
While he was, however, advised not to take the law into his hands, he insisted that somebody cannot come to their compound armed with cutlass and be allowed to go free, saying, “Otherwise police should do the right thing.
“Somebody coming to my compound, if I am going to lay down my life fine, I’m sorry. They have stolen my own pump 3 times, others 2 times.
“They come around 1-2 am. More than 40 pumps in our area inside people’s compounds have been stolen. People are just keeping quiet and they are monitoring them.
“I need up to N150,000 to fix the problem caused. Everybody, tribes in Gonin-Gora should warm their boys,” he warmed.
