Nigeria Police Command, Kaduna State, says it has neutralized two armed robbers, arrested two suspects and recovered locally-made pistol, ammunition and some dangerous weapons and jewelry, phones and other valuables stolen by the suspects.
The Command disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Wednesday and made available to newsmen.
The statement stressed that, “On 25th June, 2025, at about 0310hrs, the Command received a distress call from residents of Gashash Estate, Barnawa, reporting that about eight armed hoodlums invaded their compound.
“The suspects, who were armed with a locally-made pistol and other dangerous weapons, robbed occupants of various valuable items, including phones, laptops, wristwatches, gaming consoles, and jewelry.
“Upon receipt of the call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Barnawa Division, immediately mobilized patrol teams in conjunction with DPO Kakuri, Sabon Tasha and detachment of gallant military personnel from the 312 Artillery Regiment, Kalapanzi, and swiftly proceeded to the scene. After a strategic pursuit, the suspects were tracked down to Makera Main Road in Kakuri,” it stated.
According to the Police statement, “On sighting the security operatives, the robbers engaged them in a fierce gun dual. In the process, two of the armed robbers were neutralized, while two others were arrested.
“The operatives recovered one locally-made pistol, ammunition and several dangerous weapons in their possession.
“Further search and investigation led to the recovery of stolen items, which include: Seven (7) mobile phones, Three (3) wristwatches, Two (2) laptops, Two (2) PlayStation gaming consoles and Assorted jewelries,” it added.
Police also stated that “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang,” adding, “Also, as a result of the unfortunate incident, one Police Officer was wounded and is currently receiving treatment at Police Clinic.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the swift response and collaboration between the police and the military. The CP also applauded the support from DSS and other security agencies in crime prevention in the state.
He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Police.
