Kaduna State Government has vehemently debunked message making rounds since 30th June, 2025, on social media, on the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Kakuri suburb of Kaduna South LGA and its environs in the state, describing it as false.
A statement signed by James Kanyip and made available to newsmen Tuesday by spokesman of Kaduna State Governor, Ibraheem Musa, is titled: ‘Re: false curfew alert in Kakuri, Kaduna South.’
The statement reads: “The Kaduna State Government wishes to debunk the false message going round the social media platforms on the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Kakuri and its surroundings.
“These areas mentioned, i.e,: Kakuri Bus-stop, Kurmin-Gwari, Monday Market, Afaka Road, Air Force Junction and Kakuri GRA remain calm and peaceful with people going about their normal businesses,” it stated.
The statement urged that members of the public are, therefore, advised to disregard the rumour being spread by mischief-makers.
It added that, “The Kaduna State Government, however, remains committed to this course and assures citizens that security agencies are fully on ground to ensure adequate protection of lives and property of the citizens at all times and promote peaceful co-existence amongst residents of the area.
“The general public is, therefore, enjoined to work hand-in-hand by collaborating with security agencies in reporting any strange happening within their respective domains and also avoid relying on information from unconfirmed sources for avoidance of any untoward development.”
There were, however, allegations of infraction between the security and youths in the area prior to the alleged imposition of the ‘curfew’ in the area of a market popularly known as “Monday Market.”
