LAFIA: The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has signed the 2025 appropriation bill, valued at ₦384.3 billion, into law.
The bill, which underwent a slight upward review of ₦1.7 billion from its original estimate, was signed during a ceremony at the Government House on Tuesday.
Governor Sule commended the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for approving a realistic and actionable budget, stressing that his administration is committed to its diligent implementation.
The 2025 budget, tagged, ‘Budget of Economic Stability,’ allocates ₦160.6 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦223.7 billion for capital projects.
In addition to the appropriation bill, Governor Sule also signed the Nasarawa State Electricity Bill into law, aligning the state with the federal Electricity Act recently assented to by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The law aims to boost power generation and regulate electricity in Nasarawa, positioning the state among the top 10 in localized power production.
Governor Sule emphasized plans for hydropower from dams in Doma and Farin Ruwa, as well as solar energy projects in Keffi, to ensure equitable distribution across the state’s three senatorial zones.
While acknowledging the legislatures’ cooperation, the governor lauded the Assembly for its prompt action, even convening during holidays to finalize the budget.
He assured the public that his administration would remain focused on economic stability, development, and infrastructure, undeterred by early political campaigns for 2027.
The event also saw appreciation extended to Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, for effectively overseeing state affairs during Governor Sule’s recent two-week vacation.
Key stakeholders, including Speaker, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau; Nasarawa State Commissioner for Finance, Hajiya Munira Abdullahi, and General Manager of Nasarawa Electricity Power Agency (NaEPA), Engineer Yakubu Suleiman Umar, expressed confidence in the administration’s plans for economic and energy transformation.
