In a pragmatic effort to ameliorate suffering of students under the current economic logjam in the state, Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, has ordered the stoppage of levy collections by the management of the Kaduna State University (KASU).
The governor stated that the collection of levies negates the downward review of the extant fees regime announced in 2023, under his administration.
State government Publication, ‘Kaduna Outlook’ 2024, Vol.1, No.2, reported that the downward review of extant fees regime being implemented is an intervention to cushion the effects of the general rising cost of living in the polity, especially in the wake of the petroleum subsidy removal.
The publication also reported that the State Government is committed to ameliorating the suffering of the people.
It further stated that, the state will continue to initiate policies, programs and projects to bring succor to the poor, underserved, and the vulnerable, crediting the statement to Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sani.
“It shall continue to take measures to ensure access to free and qualitative education for every citizen in Kaduna State, from primary to tertiary level,” he stated.
