by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The recent alleged plot by the Kano State Government to secure the suspension of National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party, Abdullahi Ganduje, from the party in his ward has taken a dramatic dimension.

Recalled that, some individuals, led by one Halliru Gwanzo, who claims to be the Legal Adviser of the APC in Ganduje Ward, had addressed a press conference in Kano Monday and announced the suspension of Abdullahi Ganduje on charges bordering on ‘corruption’ levelled against the former governor by the State Government.

In a swift reaction, the APC leadership in Kano State, under the Chairmanship of Abdullahi Abbas, dismissed the claims by the said culprits, and slammed a six months’ suspension on the group, and set up a committee to investigate them for what he termed as “anti-party activities.”

The Kano APC Chairman also said that the state level has since adopted the decisions of the local government party leaders, and are now investigating the anti-party activities of the ward excos.

“We have evidence of meetings between the state government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman, and SWC has agreed to sanction them for six months, and they now stand suspended,” the chairman said.

More so, the Dawakin Tofa local government APC chairman, Inusa Sulaiman Dawanau, also confirmed to newsmen that the culprit were caught in anti-party activities with records of their meetings with the ruling opposition in the state, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) exposed in the deal.

Later in the day, 27 exco members from the Ganduje Ward addressed an emergency press conference at the Kano APC Headquarters, led by Ahmad Muhammad Ganduje, the Ward Chairman of the party.

They dismissed the claims and insisted that the culprits impersonated and tarnished the image of the party and the National Chairman.

“As a result, the ward exco leaders have vowed to sue those identified as the perpetrators to court for impersonation and defamation of character. What is more is that, those who announced the suspension were not members of the APC,” the ward chairman declared.

One Halliru Gwanzo told newsmen that he is the Legal Adviser of the ward whose person was impersonated and he was not aware of what happened.

“The attention of the Ganduje Ward Executive Committee Members and that of Dawakin Tofa Local Government has been drawn to a purported suspension of the National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by unfortunately, non-APC members in the Ward.

“Those, who addressed the press conference, were sponsored by the NNPP state government, and from the record of the party at the Ward, Local Government and State, are not card-carrying members of the APC. The purported suspension was null and void, and would have no any effect on the National Chairman.

“The Ward and Local Government Executives, having identified the persons involved in this unfortunate situation, have already prepared to charge them to court for impersonation and calculated attempt to embarrass and dent the image of the Party and that of the National Chairman,” he said.

Muhammad, therefore, called on all party members to disregard the purported suspension and remain calm.

Meanwhile, the Ganduje Ward APC leaders are heading to court to challenge the said impersonators, as the public is left in awe waiting for the next action from the perpetrators of the suspension of the APC National Chairman.

Political leaders in Nigeria that have been affected by this kind of move in the past include Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Prince Uche Secondus, and Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
