Heavily-armed bandits have reportedly launched a devastating attack on worshippers during church activity at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Kampani Village, Maro, located in the Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State, killing at least five persons, leaving others badly injured.

A Police Command source in Kaduna State, who spoke to counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, explained that the attack took place at about 3:30 pm, Friday, 11 July 2025, when some deadly armed men stormed the church premises during a gathering of worshippers.

It was gathered that a Good Samaritan reportedly alerted security agencies at about 9:20 pm, prompting the deployment of a combined team of Police Officers and operatives from other security agencies.

On arrival, it was further gathered, the security team that quickly combed the area later confirmed that five of the worshippers were shot and fatally wounded.

Some of the dead victims were identified as Victor Haruna, Dogara Jatau, Luka Yari, Jesse Dalami, and Bawu John, who were later taken to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel.

It was also gathered that three other victims, namely; Samuel Aliyu, Philip Dominic, and Jacob Hussaini reportedly sustained serious injuries and are at present receiving treatment at a nearby healthcare facility.

Following the attacks, security agencies have launched a manhunt for the armed men that carried out the attacks, with efforts ongoing to track and apprehend those responsible for the deadly assault.

The State Police Command spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, was yet to respond before the time of filing this reports when contacted.
