Again, gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Millennium City and abducted no fewer than five persons.
The sad incident occurred Tuesday/Wednesday night at Dokan Mai-Jama’a, in the Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Report from eyewitness locals alleged that Joint Task Force (JTF) rescued two of the victims, while the kidnappers escaped with three others to unknown destination, as details are still been expected.
The details remain scanty at the time of filing this report Wednesday morning in Kaduna Millennium City where it happened.
This latest incident has, however, sparked widespread reactions in the social media circle alleging that the last night attack and abduction is one out of many, and has occurred uncountable number of times in the area with little being done to reduce incidents by authority.
Some of the statements in social media read, thus: “Kidnappers have abducted five persons last night at Dokan Mai-Jama’a, Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.JTF rescued two of the victims, while the kidnappers escaped with three others,” it added.
A resident of the area, who gave his name as Alh Taju, also reacted and alleged that they’ve reported the kidnapping incident in the nearby forest, suggesting solution.
“We have reported several times that those kidnappers in the Millennium City Axis live in those bush/forests within the area.
Taju stated that, “You can only get rid of these criminals when a strong ‘Task Force’ is built in strategic places, particularly, Yakowa Way, to look after the entrance into the villages surrounding the Chikun local government.
“Doka Maijaama to the New Express Road, to man Mararaban Jos, villages behind Riga Chikun, and another one between Danhonu 2, and Sabongero, to monitor villages in the surroundings.
“The government should consider these, and act on time. It has worked and still working in some places. You still have the Task Force.
“After all, security is a Federal Government responsibility, with the proper support by the State Government. Kachia, Kajuru, Kagarko, Giwa , Birini-Gwari also included,” he added.
Recalled that, a retired photo journalist was recently abducted from the Millennium City but was later released after months in captivity, being the most recent incident.
Police was yet to make any official statement at the time of filing this report, even as the Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, could not respond when contacted.
