JOS: The Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party in Plateau State, John Sunday Sura, says “The ADC represents the only alternative for Nigerians, who are looking forward to a better future for our country.”

“We recognise the challenges facing our nation, including economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and the rising cost of living. These challenges demand serious commitment, responsible leadership, and practical solutions. As a party, we must continue to work together, listen to the concerns of our people, and develop ideas that will improve the lives of our people,” John Sura stated.

He was speaking during the unveiling of the co-captain of his rescue mission, his running mate, Hon. Mrs. Chundung Bitus Pwajok Kele, well known as “Chundung Kele,” on Monday in Jos.

“It bleeds; it is so painful that today we need to begin to talk on how we will change Plateau. Let me start by saying this way: I stand before you today not just as a candidate for the Office of the Governor, but as a soldier who has returned from the battlefield to find his home in urgent need of strategic and decisive leadership,” he disclosed.

He stressed, thus: “When I entered this senatorial race under the African Democratic Congress, my mission was simple and unshakable – to confront insecurity with courage, to heal our fractured communities, to restore the lost glory of our Home of Peace and Tourism.

“I am not running to fulfill personal vanity or to disrupt the sacrifice zoning arrangements that have kept this state going. I am running to give the Central Plateau and the entire state a focused leadership that is deserved by all of you.

“A vision for a restored Plateau can never be personalized. I will not personalize any of these things. It requires partnership rooted in competency, integrity, compassion, and absolute dedication to public service,” he assured.

General Sura noted that, “It is, therefore, with immense pride and a deep sense of purpose that I introduce to you the co-captain of this rescue mission, my running mate, in person of Hon. Mrs. Chundung Bitus Pwajok Kele.”

He emphasized that, “Choosing Chundung, we did not look for mere political alignment. We looked for character with intellectual depth. We looked for character that will also push the people, a person with great empathy, who shares the heartbeats of our people, who will bring a fresh perspective, executive capacity, and unyielding commitment to social advancement of Plateau State.

“Together, we will build this gap, combining my background as a security man, economic strategy, and discipline, with her exceptional capabilities.

“Our joint ticket represents competency, representation of the people of Plateau State, with passion, with godliness, to speak what we want to say, and we will act on what we say. It is a testament to our belief that women and youths are not just voters, they are strategic players in governance,” he said.

He was optimistic that, “With Chundung by my side, our two-point agenda is: Security – to secure the people of Plateau State; the second agenda is Sustainable Rural Development, which is no longer in our state. We shall stand by it, and our manifesto will speak to it.

“People of Plateau State; we hear your cry. We know the pains of insecurity that have compounded our economy. We understand what matters most. We are ready to empower our local security architecture, revive our agricultural potential, build on environmental protection, and welcome investors into the state. We aim to achieve this, upholding our mantra of ‘Building One Tribe, ²One People, One Plateau.’”

John Sunday Sura noted that, “Chundung and myself are on-board in this historic work, and will bring the support needed to everyone when I am elected as Governor.

“We will lead the people, we will speak for the people of Plateau State, we will ask in defence of our people, and we will defend you. Our policy will be people-centric. We will not allow anything to distract us. We will be well focused, we will be deliberate; we will be very, very intentional.”

General Sura further emphasized that Plateau is a state that everybody knows and everybody wants to come to, saying, “This State, Plateau, is no longer there. With I and Chundung, with all of you on the Plateau, you will be proud that you have a leader who is well-charactered, who also has integrity as his watchword, honesty.

I will serve with faithfulness.

“I will stand by the mandate of the people of the State; I will not disappoint you. I will not run away from you. I will be there with you when there is rain, I will be there with you when there is heat. I will be there to make sure that things work again for Plateau. Plateau will rise again.

“We will not squander the money of Plateau State on personal days. We will not be an absentee governor. We will be here with you. We won’t be sleeping outside Plateau, while our papers and everything… We will be in the local lands; we will be even wherever you are. We will share your joys and also share your sadness,” he disclosed.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of ADC Plateau State, Hon. Farmer Dung Daweng Pam, said people of Plateau will know that a new beginning is possible, and a new beginning has come. “Our structure is not in any secret room. Our structure is the people of Plateau State. While other parties talk about structures of money and imposition, we are returning power to the grassroots, where it truly belongs.”

At the Official Unveiling Ceremony in Jos, on the 19th Day of October, 2026, he said “Today marks a significant moment in the political history of Plateau State as the Governorship Flag-Bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Brigadier-General Johnson Desura (Rtd), formally presents to the people of Plateau State a woman of courage, capacity, compassion, experience and uncommon commitment to public service, Hon. Chundung Bitus Pwajok Kele, as my Deputy Governorship nominee and running mate for the 2027 Governorship Election.”

According to him, Hon. Chundung Bitus Pwajok Kele is a seasoned public servant, political leader, community advocate and grassroots mobilizer whose public life has been defined by service, inclusion and an enduring commitment to the people.
