Multitudes of Christian worshippers and leaders that watched the “Stations of The Cross” – which marks Good Friday, a prelude to Easter Sunday – wept openly, with tears rolling down their cheeks, following the inability to control their emotions during the exercise, which held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ungwan Boro, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.
The sympathetic appearance and condition of “Jesus Christ” triggered the weeping when the “Saviour” was being whipped continuously on top of his Cross by soldiers during the Stations of The Cross at the church promises.
The exercise, which commenced at 9 pm on Friday morning, was observed in all the stages (Stations), from the beginning to the end, with portrait of the crucified Jesus on the cross, along with two criminals on his left and right.
Hundreds of worshippers and speculators gathered around in the church premises to watch the “Stations of The Cross,” guided by the church priests and other officiating members directing the procession.
Fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, children and youths who gathered in the church were seen weeping openly at the sight and sound of the whipping and crucifixion on the cross of Christ, flanked by two criminals’ portraits, which ended around 11:30 am.
The “Stations of The Cross” was, however, not without accompanying prayers interjected by the priests, as exemplified in the ministration of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who was born by the Holy Mary through the Holy Spirit, crucified and died on the Cross of Calvary.
The bible quotes that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was crucified and died on the Cross of Calvary for the sins of the world.
