The Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has underscored the significance of unity among the state’s diverse tribes and denominations.
He described the chapel as a “unifying symbol” – serving as a conduit for prayer, worship, and the spiritual rebuilding of Plateau State.
The governor was speaking during the Reopening, Rededication and Commissioning of the Chapel of Grace at the Government House Jos, on Sunday.
Our correspondent reports that, it was a solemn ceremony marked by prayers and reflections, while Christians in the state were urged to “prioritize the spiritual over the material.”
Speaking at the event, Brother Gbili Akanni noted that, “The chapel underwent a transformative renovation and beautification initiative led by the State Government.”
While drawing inspiration from Psalm 132, he emphasized the importance of inviting God to dwell in the hearts of individuals, rather than focusing solely on physical structures.
“God is far more interested in finding habitation in the hearts of men and women, with Christ given the rightful position in the hearts,” he stated.
The Chapel of Grace is an Interdenominational worship center in the Plateau State Government House. It was established to provide a place of worship, prayers, and fellowship for people called to serve in Government and people within the community.
Middle-Belt News Networks reports that, the Chapel stands as a place of inspiration, empowering individuals to embody Godly principles and contribute to a flourishing Plateau Community, especially in sound governance.
It was also to be an “Altar of answered prayers,” fueled by intercession and sound expository preaching and teaching of scripture. This, they believe, will inspire Godly living through the lives of the citizens.
The mission was to promote unity in Plateau State, embracing its diversity, and unlocking God-given prosperity for future generations through fervent prayers and the application of Biblical teaching and principles, and was established during the Joshua Dariye administration.
Also speaking, Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam noted that, the core values imbued within the chapel include prayer, love, accountability, integrity, compassion, holistic missions, excellence, authentic leadership, and unity of faith.
Special prayers were also offered for Plateau State, Nigeria, and the Sahel Region, jointly by: Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo, COCIN President; Rev. Dunka Gomwalk, PFN Chairman Plateau State; and Prophet Isa El-Buba, National Vice President PFN North Central.
It was closely followed by a Special Rededication Prayer, led by the Catholic Archbishop of Josm His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Ishaya Audu, and Right Rev. Dr. Nkechi Nwosu, who is Methodist Bishop of Jos Diocese.
The ceremony culminated with the consecration and commissioning of the new Chaplain, by Rev. Benjamin A. Nadabo, Rev. Dr. Panya Baba, ECWA President, and CAN National Vice President, and goodwill messages from former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah David Jang, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, and Very Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo – the CAN Chairman Plateau State.
The rededication of the Plateau State Government House Chapel serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of spiritual nourishment amidst the challenges facing the state and the nation at large. Through prayer, unity, and a shared commitment to faith, the event symbolizes hope for a brighter future, rooted in spiritual values and communal harmony.
