A political analyst, based in Kaduna State, Ndubuisi Nicholas Ifedoro, has predicted that the 2027 presidential election will be what he termed as a “three-horse race” between the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an analysis shared on social media on Monday, Ifedoro said the majority of voters in the North have rejected the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, the rejection is open and glaring, with APC campaigns at the state level focusing on governors, senators and House of Representatives candidates, without including President Tinubu.
“From what I see on the ground, the 2027 presidential election will be between APC, ADC, and NDC. The majority of voters in the North have rejected APC/Tinubu, and they are not hiding it. The people are campaigning for their governors, senators, and Reps, but they are not including Tinubu in their APC campaigns,” he said.
He projected that northern votes will be shared among the three parties, but that the larger share will go to the ADC and its presumed candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“I can beat my chest that, from what is happening in the North, today, Tinubu will not win any state. Peter Obi will gather more votes in the North than Tinubu, after Atiku. The level of rejection is glaring, and young voters are not happy with anyone coming to campaign for Tinubu among them,” he stated.
On the southern region, Ifedoro predicted that Peter Obi will win more states in the South-East, South-South and some states in the South-West.
He noted that Atiku will face a big challenge in the South because the People’s Democratic Party, PDP – which had (traditionally) given him high votes, has fragmented, with members moving to different parties.
“So, anyone telling you that Tinubu will win this coming election is not on the ground with the reality,” he said.
The analyst further alleged that many APC governors are secretly aligned with Atiku and Obi, and may repeat the scenario of the 2015 election against former President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Let me shock you: many governors in APC are with Atiku and Obi. Don’t argue this until you see the result. Some governors will do to Tinubu what some governors did to Goodluck Jonathan, in 2015. They will collect Tinubu’s campaign money but use it for themselves and allow other parties to have their way,” he claimed.
He concluded that the 2027 presidential election will be ‘keenly contested’ “to the extent that APC might not even know when the election has happened. Let’s watch as things unfold,” he added.
However, the analyst failed to give the audience the position of Middle-Belt in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
