About one hundred and twenty (120) women have been empowered with sewing, grinding machines and fifty thousand naira cash each, in Yola South and Yola North.
A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party, representing Yola South, Yola North, and Girei Federal Constituency, Hon. Abubakar Babazango, made the gesture to help in reducing their hardship.
According to him, the gesture was in collaboration with the Federal Corporative College Orji River, Enugu State, beeing designed to empower Adamawa women, who are Artisans, for the 2024 project year.
He said, the all-inclusive gesture took place at the Capital School in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of the state, where women came out in their numbers and applauded the member with songs and praises.
The member further explained that, he is doing this because these are some of his campaign promises and representation that would bear the brunt and the burdens of his electorates, and he would never relent in doing it.
“What you are seeing today is just a litmus taste and a tip of the iceberg, as there are many piles of events I designed to do in making sure I fulfill my campaign promises,” he said.
Hon. Abubakar Babazango further noted that, there is going to be another mega empowerment coming out in a sooner date that will involve men, women, youths, and the less-privileged. “The essence this is to chase away poverty and to fight idleness and laziness in Adamawa people,” he noted.
The Lawmaker, therefore, enjoyed the beneficiaries to ensure they make use of these equipments to improve their living standards, saying, “and it will go a long way in stabilizing the country’s economy.”
A beneficiary, Maryam Abdullahi, from Yola South, commended Babazago’s gesture and the foresight, in order to support especially the less-privileged at this crucial time, and appraised the Federal Cooperative officials, who came all the way from Enugu State, to support and ensure that it was a successful program.
