Kashim Shettima, VP

The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, was in Plateau State to commiserate with the Government and people over the gruesome massacre of tens of innocent citizens by terrorists in villages of Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi and Mangu Local Government Areas.

While extending sympathies of the Federal Government, the VP assured the people that President Tinubu has directed the armed forces to do everything possible and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He also gave an assurance of immediate relief interventions by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development.

Other leaders, who joined Governor Caleb Mutfwang to welcome the Vice President who was accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Christopher Musa are, former Governor Joshua Dariye, Samuel Atukum, Senator representing Plateau Central Zone, Sen. Diket Plang, Member Bokkos/Mangu Federal Constituency, Ishaya Lalu, former Senate Minority Leader, Simon Mwadkon and the Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba, among others.

The Vice President, thereafter, proceeded to Bokkos where he visited an IDP Camp housing some of the displaced persons from the attacks. 

The Vice President and National Security Adviser later addressed stakeholders at the Yakubu Gowon Airport Heipang before departing Jos.

Former Minister of Labour and Employment and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Bako Lalong, was among Plateau leaders, who received Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Yakubu Gowon Airport Heipang Jos, on Wednesday, 27th December, 2023.

It would be recalled that Senator Lalong had earlier condemned in strong terms the barbaric attacks and expressed deep sympathies to the affected people, urging security agencies to ensure that the attackers are fished out and brought to justice.
