JOS: In a recurring decimal, about 3 communities in Barkin-Ladi have again been attacked by terrorists.
This is coming on the heels of barely 4 days that President Bola Ahemd Tinubu was at Heipang Airport to address community leaders, religions leaders, traditional rulers and stakeholders on attack at Angwan Rukuba, in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The Pwomol Village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area was invaded by armed Fulani terrorists, resulting to the killing of two youths, around midnight, marking the second attack on the Heipang community within one week.
The deceased two youths of the community were keeping watch, while one other victim sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
In the course of the incident, one of the attackers, identified as Suleiman, a Fulani man from Fass community in Riyom Local Government Area, was apprehended alive at about 1:00 a.m.
The suspect was arrested around the Redemption Camp area between Heipang and Kassa, with blood stains reportedly found on his body.
Our Correspondent gathered that the terrorists were more than one hundred in number, who came through the back of the community, while the community vigilante were monitoring roads leading to the community. The suspect is currently in the custody of security operatives at Sector 4 in Barkin-Ladi.
Meanwhile, the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), under the leadership of its National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, calls on security agencies to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the attack and ensure that the arrested suspect is brought to justice without delay.
The Association further demands that the suspect be made to provide useful information that will lead to the arrest of other perpetrators and collaborators involved in the attack.
The BYM commends the immediate intervention of the Special Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, and urges residents of the area to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities within their communities.
A statement on this incident was signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the BYM and issued to Journalists in Jos, on Monday by Rwang Tengwong.

Meanwhile, following the Easter Sunday attack, the Plateau State Police Command visited the scene of the incident on Monday after the burial.
The Commissioner of Police Plateau State, CP Bassey Ewah, said, on 6th April, 2026, at about 04:30am, they received a distress call from Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area reporting gunshot sounds around Pwomol Village in Heipang District.
According to him, upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police mobilized a Joint Response Team comprising of the DPO Barkin-Ladi, the Military, and other security agencies who engaged the attackers in a gun duel. Due to the superior fire power of our team, the attackers were forced to flee into the surrounding mountainous forests.
During the attack, however, three (3) persons unfortunately lost their lives, while one (1) other sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
In a follow-up clearance operation carried out by the team, one (1) suspect identified as Suleiman (male) was arrested around the Redemption Camp. The suspect was apprehended with visible blood stains and is currently in custody.
The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Bassey Ewah, on Monday paid a visit to the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assured them that a thorough, professional, and transparent investigation will be conducted with a view to apprehend other fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
He further urged all Plateau residents to remain calm, vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activities around them to the nearest security agency.
As an additional measure to restore public confidence and prevent further threats on the community, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has also reinforced security presence in the area through additional deployments, intensified patrols and synergy with other security agencies.
The Plateau State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State.
“To this end, the Commissioner of Police and members of his Management Team has embarked on a full enforcement of the curfew. He, therefore, urges all residents to respect the curfew restrictions, in order to avoid sanctions.”
