JOS: Recent alarming reports have it that child abuse is being perpetrated at Jofin Orphanage Home, located at Rukuba metropolis of Jos City.

A body, known as, ‘Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation,’ which has been in-and-out of welfare assistance to the orphanage home on a number of occasions, has disassociates itself from any link with the alleged child abuse at the orphanage by its operators.

While briefing Newsmen at the NUJ Press Center Jos, on Wednesday, by its legal spokesperson, Chukwuemeka Okeke, the Foundation also called for urgent investigation into the child abuse allegations.

He said, “Stanel Group and the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation have always been passionately committed to alleviating the plight of the vulnerable and underprivileged across Nigeria.”

Mr. Okeke further explained that, it was this commitment that led the foundation to intervene urgently at the Jofin Orphanage Home Rukuba, where they encountered and sought to remedy the deplorable and almost inhumane living conditions of the children and the young people within the home.

According to him, the core passion of their dictates is that, no opportunity for a genuine humanitarian outreach is ever overlooked.

He stressed that, “This passion for protecting the vulnerable, however, now it has compelled us to take a firm and public stance against those who would abuse children and betray the trust placed in them.

“We cannot, in good conscience, maintain any association with an instruction facing such gave allegations. The Foundation’s engagement with the orphanage, which culminated in a comprehensive intervention on July 31, 2025, was strictly humanitarian,” he said.

According to him, “The intervention includes a feeding program, education aids, significant renovation of the home, including the installation of state-of-the-art ICT and security facilities, all aimed at safeguarding the children’s welfare.

“We wish to state, in the clearest terms that, the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation is not the owner, operation, or manager of Jofin Orphanage Home or any other home. We vehemently debunk any remours suggesting otherwise, and entirely distance ourselves from the alleged malpractices of the operator,” he said.

“All support from the Foundation to the Orphanage has been withdrawn, with immediate effect,” he retorted, adding, “We express concern to the smart and promising children and young ones at the Orphanage, whose well-being and future remain our primary concern.”

The Foundation’s legal representative revealed that, “The Foundation has written to the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development and the Chairperson of the Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission to wade into the matter of this children and young people, as enshrined in Nigeria’s extant laws, which must be delicately and vigorously protected.”
