JOS: Plateau State’s ‘Operation Rainbow’ security service has passed-out one thousand four hundred and fifty (1,450) operatives of the state-owned security outfit.
Speaking at the Passing-Out, the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, said “The occasion marks a significant milestone not only in the lives of these gallant men and women, carefully selected across all faiths and ethnic groups in the state, but also in our collective resolve to build a safer, more peaceful Plateau State.”
The Passing-Out parade toke place at the new Stadium, along Zaria Road, Jos, on Tuesday.
“Today, we celebrate not just the successful completion of this rigorous training programme but the birth of a renewed commitment to service, courage, discipline, and sacrifice,” he stated.
“You have answered a noble call – the call to protect lives and property, preserve peace and safeguard the future of our communities. For this, the Government and the good people of Plateau State are immensely proud of you,” Mutfwang stressed.
“As you take your Oath Of Service and step into the field, let me remind you that security remains the bedrock upon which sustainable development is built. Without peace, there can be no meaningful progress, no investment, no prosperity, and no enduring unity. This is why peace and security constitute the cardinal policy thrusts of my administration.
“We are fully aware that effective security begins from within our communities. Accordingly, our administration has deliberately prioritized community-based security initiatives, including the strengthening of vigilante support structures, as critical partners within our broader security architecture,” he stated.
“Your training has, therefore, gone beyond physical drills and tactical preparedness; it has instilled discipline, respect for the rule of law, adherence to human rights, and the principles of responsible engagement with civilians.”
Governor Mutfwang urged them to conduct themselves with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and restraint, saying, “You are not above the law; rather, you are its guardians and partners.
“Work harmoniously with conventional security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders. Effective intelligence gathering, collaboration, and mutual respect remain indispensable tools in our quest for lasting peace,” he urged.
While extending his gratitude to families and the Plateau State Government for their patience, sacrifices, and unwavering support, the governor added that, their contribution to this noble cause is deeply appreciated.
“To the trainers, instructors, and coordinators, I commend your dedication and commitment to producing a disciplined, capable, and community-focused Security Force that will man our borders and safeguard our communities around-the-clock.”
According to him, “Operation Rainbow was conceived primarily to protect all citizens irrespective of their faith, ethnic groups or regional background. It is not meant to witch-hunt anybody; rather, it is an all-inclusive security outfit that involves and protects people of all faiths, tribes, working together to advance peace, unity and the safety of all.”
He assured that this government remains steadfast in its commitment to welfare of the operatives, adding that, “We shall continue to provide the necessary logistics, continuous training, and improved welfare packages to enable you to perform your duties effectively and with confidence.
“As you pass out today, remember that the uniform you wear symbolizes hope, safety, trust, and responsibility. Be worthy ambassadors of your communities and shining role models to our youths. Let your conduct inspire confidence, unity, and peace across Plateau State,” he urged.
“While we celebrate this milestone, we must also acknowledge the realities ahead. The security landscape is dynamic and ever-evolving. You must, therefore, remain vigilant, adaptable, disciplined, and resolute in the discharge of your duties.
“Stay focused on your mandate of gathering security intelligence for conventional security agencies, and be committed to the sacred responsibility of protecting our people,” he cautioned.
The governor further assured the good people of the State that this administration will not relent in its efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents, saying, “We shall continue to invest in security infrastructure, training, intelligence, and strategic partnerships and we will take bold and proactive steps to confront any security challenges that threaten our peace.”
According to Mutfwang, “As we approach the festive season, we call on all citizens to remain vigilant and law-abiding, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
“We have taken a bold initiative by partnering with the Nigerian Air Force to deploy their helicopter for security surveillance, particularly in our rural communities during the yuletide. Know it that, security is a collective responsibility, and together, we shall prevail,” he explained.
