The Plateau State Office of the Accountant-General has called on the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) to promptly correct their publication and remove Plateau State from the list of non-compliant states, which their attention has been drawn to in a publication by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), titled, ‘It’s Past Deadline, 5 States Fail to Publish 2024 Financial Statements,’ which wrongly lists Plateau State as a defaulter.

A statement to this effect, which was signed and issued to our Correspondent in Jos by the Accountant-General, Na’anret A. Manset, on Tuesday, indicated that “Plateau State remains committed to transparency, accountability, and timely financial reporting.”

The statement stressed that, “Plateau State fully complied with all statutory timelines for the preparation, audit, and publication of its 2024 audited financial statements.”

It further stated that, “On May, 2025, it was submitted to the Auditor-General, which is within the stipulated period of 6 months;” adding that, “Audit completed in June, 2025, and forwarded to the House of Assembly – which is also within the stipulated period of 3 months.”

It added that, “Approval by the House of Assembly was Published online, on 30 July, 2025, which is the legal timeline of 9 months. The audited report is publicly available at Plateaustategov.ng.”
