The Plateau State Government is to host the National Conference of Directors and Chiefs of Road Traffic Officers (VIOs) of the Federation, in October 2025.
Themed as, ‘Enhancing National Security and Road Traffic Safety through Effective Motor Vehicle Admiration in Nigeria,’ the keynote address at the conference will be delivered by Vice Chancellor Plateau State University Bokkos, Prof. Shedrack Gaya Best.
Chairman Local Organizing Committee (LOC), who is Director, Chief VIO Plateau State, Lady Anna Godwin Mweltok, disclosed this to our correspondent in Jos, while stating that, delegate for the conference are expected to arrive on the 27th of October, and to last to 30th October 2025.
According to her, other papers to be presented with the sub-theme include: ‘A Global outlook of Motor Vehicle Admiration in Contemporary Time,’ ‘The Road to Nigeria’s Development,’ ‘Effective Motor Vehicle Admiration and National Road Traffic Safety in Nigeria and The inconsistency of Motor Vehicle Admiration in Nigeria and its Implication on National Security.’
Lady Mweltok explained further that, the Conference will take place at Steffan Hotel Suite, Rayfield in Jos, with the Plateau State Ministry of Transport hosting.
She said, drivers are expected to check the safety precautions, which include checking engine oil in the morning, break fluids, steering fluid, radiator water, tyre for any signs of worn-out and also expiration.
According to her, they are expected to warm their vehicles for 5-to-10 minutes before moving – “this is to ensure safety,” and urged drivers to prioritize seatbelt use.
The Chairman LOC further urged them to avoid distraction, maintain safety, following distance, and adhere to traffic laws, while driving.
She also cautioned drivers especially on regular vehicle maintenance, along with planning their route and taking breaks, as these procedures also contribute significantly to safe driving, and to ensure that their vehicles are road worthy and good enough to ply the roads.
