This year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day event has been adjudged to be significant, as the Nigerian Military has been involved in many successful operations in the war against terrorism and insurgents in several parts of the nation, and the task of keeping the nation together in unity.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Plateau State was witnessed by the Deputy Governor, NGO Josephine Piyo, representing Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who was the first to lay the wreaths as part of respect and honour to the falling heroes.
The ceremony took please at the State Secretariat Roundabout, in Jos the Plateau State capital, on Thursday.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a day specially dedicated, celebrated, and observed in January 15th, to commemorate Servicemen of f the Nigerian Armed Forces.
A significance of reflecting in the sacrifices made by the military to unite and ensure peace in the country cannot be overemphasized. The event also honours veterans of World War I and II, as well as the Nigerian Civil War.
It is a day set aside for sober reflections in the significance of the Armed Forces. The event also provides them with the opportunity to look back and reflect on their journey as a nation.
Besides those, who lost their lives, there are many who are alive today – but traumatized; while others are physically challenged. Many families have had to go through and, are still going through, untold hardships as a result of such sacrifices.
The day is also recognized and gives honour to the fallen and the living heroes, who risked and, continue to risk, their lives for the territorial integrity of the nation and for peace to reign worldwide.
Among those, who lay the wreaths, include the Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang (represented by Deputy, NGO Josephine Piyo); GOC, 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen E.F. Oyinlola; Commander Air Force; Commissioner of Police; Chief Judge; Gbong Gwom Jos; Chairman Nigerian Legion, and wives of the fallen heroes.
Prayers were offered to families of the fallen and living heroes, the State, the President and the Nation at large.
