JOS: The Plateau State Police Command has arrested 3 suspects in connection with armed robbery/suspected kidnapping in its efforts to putting an end to the activities of criminally-minded individuals whose perception of a decent life is to cause chaos, thereby depriving other innocent citizens of their means of livelihood.

Parading the suspects on Tuesday at the Command’s Headquarters, in Jos, by the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, the CP disclosed that, the Command received a report on 13th August, 2025, at about 05:00pm, from one Abubakar Mohammadu, Nasiru Umar and Haruna Mohammed, both male of Kishika area of Binchin Village of Bassa Local Government Area, that, on 27th July, 2025, at about 10:00pm, while they were on their way from Bukuru Cattle Market where they sold three (3) cows, they were attacked and robbed by some hoodlums armed with a locally-made gun. 

According to him, during the attack, the hoodlums robbed the victims of sums of money of about one million, nine hundred and eighteen thousand naira (1,918.000.00).

He gave the breakdown as: Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000.00k), Four Hundred and Eighteen Thousand Naira (N418,000.00k), and Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N900,000.00k), totaling about One Million, Nine Hundred and Eighteen Thousand Naira (1,918,000.00k) only.

He said, this was all the proceeds of the sale of their cows, while other items carted away by the hoodlums include one TECNO T528 phone, Two knives, one Itel phone, and three walking sticks.

The Police Commissioner noted that, following the report, detectives from Bassa Division immediately swung into action and, as a result, the 3 suspect were arrested in connection to the offence; one Jafaru Sale, Abdulsalam Adam, and Mamuda Musa.

CP Adesina explained further that, the suspects have confessed to be responsible for the armed robberies that have been carried out along Bassa and Jengre communities.

The case is currently under investigation at the State CID and will be charged to Court upon conclusion of our investigation.

The CP stated that, “While acting on credible intelligence, detectives from Langtang South Division raided the house of one Kokyak, male of Mabudi on 18/08/2025 and recovered a fabricated rifle.”

The CP added that, “On reaching the house, it was discovered that the suspect had fled to unknown location. So, upon executing a search warrant in his residence, one locally-fabricated rifle with an empty magazine was recovered. Efforts are on top gear to arrest the suspect for proper prosecution.”

While appreciating Journalists for their continued support to the Police and other security agencies on the Plateau and Diaspora, the was delighted that, “This accurate and citizen-centered reportage of events have been very instrumental in sustaining the fragile peace we are currently enjoying.”

He also appreciated the government and good people of Plateau State, their support, especially in the area of intelligence reports and providing the Police with necessary assistance to ensure that the State remains peaceful, saying, “This is a testament that the people of Plateau State are security-friendly.” 

The CP also assured the citizens that they, as a Command, are doing everything within their constitutional powers to ensure that peace is restored on the Plateau.
