The City of Jos has witnessed massive protests, from Maraban Jama’a and Old Airport of the Plateau State capital, from the early hours of Wednesday morning when citizens turned out in their numbers, including youths, women and men, who came out to protest what they call “injustice happening at the Appeal Court,” following the judgment of their seven elected Members of the PDP National Assembly, who were removed by the Appeal Court.
They observed that, the injustice has raised serious tensions in the state, raising eyebrows, after same court in other cases had declared that the issue of Nomination, Qualifications and Sponsorships all fall under pre-election matters.
But, to their surprise, all Plateau cases of their members are different; all Plateau cases came out differently even after the Supreme Court had declared same in the presidential election petition tribunal.
Our correspondent reports that, people came out in thousands, blocking major high ways within and outside the state capital, some at the Maraban Jama’a, while thousands covered the major Old Airport roundabout, as they carried assorted placards to show their dissatisfaction with the ‘ugly judgment’ that had happened at the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja.
It was a peaceful protest, though, well monitored by Security Agencies, and there was no breakdown of law and order.
