Deputy Gov, Josephine Piyo, flagging-off the immunization exercise.

JOS – Plateau State Government says it’s committed to tackling childhood vaccine preventable diseases and has undertaken a total overhaul of the health sector to ensure effective healthcare delivery.

Deputy Governor, Josephine Piyo, who represented the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Calab Mutfwang, stated this on Friday, while flagging-off the 2023 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) at Tudun Wada Primary Healthcare Jos.

She urged all parents and guardians to bring their children for vaccination and other routine immunization services, from September 29th to October 3rd, 2023, to help in achieving population immunity and improve immunization coverage in the state.

According to her, the NIPDs campaign aims to boost population immunity and stop the transmission of circulating variant polio virus (CVPV2) in Plateau State.

The Deputy Governor explained that, the State Government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, State Primary Health Care Board, UNICEF, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, and other partners, have been working tirelessly to provide quality healthcare and immunization services to all eligible children.

She appreciated the various health bodies and applauded the work of their partners as they strive to achieve universal health coverage in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.

She also expressed appreciation to all their partners for their courage and commitment in providing healthcare and services to the children of Plateau State.

Also, the Executive Secretary, Plateau State Primary Health Care Board (PSPHCB), Dr Raymond Juryet, said that, the Task Force on immunization under the chairmanship of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Josephine Piyo, has been reactivated to protect children in the state from killer and debilitating diseases. 

She said, the PSPHCB in the new administration is doing things differently to ensure total immunization coverage in the state.
