The Plateau State Government has “ushered-in” new Permanent Secretaries to handle their offices dutifully.
While performing the Oath of Office ceremony, (Plateau State Governor) Barr Caleb Mutfwang warned the 8 newly-appointed Permanent Secretaries that “This administration will not tolerate disloyalty, indiscipline and flagrant abuse of office and indolence.”
He cautioned them that diligent service to the government and citizens of Plateau State should be their watchword, and failure in this regard will be considered unfit and shown the way out.
The swearing-in of the eight newly-appointed Permanent Secretaries in the State was conducted by Deputy Governor, Hon. Mrs Josephine Piyo, at the Government House, Little Rayfield Jos, on Tuesday.
The governor urged them to remain focus to join hands with his administration on the implementation of its programmes, policies and projects to deliver the Time is Now mandate.
According to him, this will justify the overwhelming support they got from the good people and citizens of Plateau State, and challenged them to bring their wealth of expense and sense of industry to bear on the Civil Service being a structured bureaucracy, which is based on a long tradition of rules, regulations and guidelines.
Governor Mutwang also called on them to ensure that they remain apolitical to work within the scheme and schedule of service by upholding the sanctity of accountability, honesty, probity, justice and fairness.
While reminding them that during the swearing-in of first Permanent Secretaries in June, 2023, appointed by this administration, the governor reiterated that, “The Time is Now to restore the glory of our dear state; and to achieve that, the engine of government – which is the Civil Service – must be overhauled to give it the credence it deserves.”
He said, no amount of sentiment will stop his administration from doing what is right for the interest of all Plateau people, and emphasised that the glory of Plateau State, which is known for Excellence, shall be restored.
“In this regard, I assure the good people of Plateau State that our government is a government for all, irrespective of tribe and faith. Surely, we remain focus to deliver on the gains of democracy.
“I am confident in your capacity as seasoned civil servants and bureaucrats to perform in the respectful MDAs you will be assigned to, and bear in mind that your appointment is a public trust, which you must protect.
“You are to note that where any one of you is found wanting, necessary sanction will be administered on him or her. Your appointment was predicted on commitment, hard work and dedication after due diligence,” he stressed.
Responding, the on behalf of the Permanent Secretaries, Alexander Anlong Nyelong (who is one of them) appreciated the governor for finding them worthy to appoint them as Permanent Secretaries in the State’s Civil Service, and assured that they will remain focus to see that this administration achieves its goals and not to disappoint them.
The Permanent Secretaries include, Aliyu Tsoho Samuel, Esther N. Pwaspo, Mary C. Fom, Kelvin Bamshak, Tamba Nuhu Garba, Alexander Anlong Nyelong, Lydia Vonkat Nantim and Jummai Adamu.
