Kaduna State Government has donated ten thousand (10,000) tree seedlings to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to support the Academy’s tree planting initiative.

During the presentation of the tree seedlings at the State Secretariat, the Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Abubakar Buba, said that the initiative has not only reflected the State Government’s dedication to environmental sustainability but also embodied on their responsibility as government to the future generations.

Hon. Abubakar Buba also said that trees are vital to the nation’s ecosystem, providing clear air, combating climate change and enhancing biodiversity. 

“By planting and nurturing these seedlings, we are taking a significant step towards preserving our natural heritage and promoting a healthier planet,” he said.

The Commissioner also said that tremendous effort of the Defence Academy to conserve biodiversity is laudable and timely, considering the incessant environmental changes posed by the adverse effects of climate change. 

According to the Commissioner, the Academy’s effort will compliment and consolidate on the State Government’s commitment towards combating environment plaguing Kaduna State. “Each seedling represents hope – a hope for greener Kaduna,” he added.

Also speaking, the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Maj-Gen J.O. Ochai, in his remarks after receiving the 10,000 indigenous tree seedlings of various species for biodiversity conservation, expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government and reassured the Defence Academy of a continues commitment and partnership, which is already fruitful on a high gear.
