In a pragmatic effort, Nigerian Police Command has announced the arrest a gang of notorious criminals that stabbed an innocent passerby to dispossess him of his mobile phone, around Kawo Flyover in Kaduna State.
A statement by spokesman of the Police Command Kaduna State, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Sunday averred that the perpetrator, identified as Aminu Lawal ‘M’, popularly known as “Aminu Yayyafi”, was arrested and has already confessed to the crime.
Police also stated that efforts are being intensified to arrest his accomplices for prosecution, in line with the relevant laws, as soon as the investigation is completed.
It stated: “On 28th March, 2026, at about 2000 hours, following an incident at Kawo Flyover by Mamu Oil, some meters away from the bridge in Kaduna where a gang of notorious criminals stabbed an innocent passerby to dispossess him of his mobile phone.
“Police operatives permanently stationed under the bridge promptly responded and rushed to the scene. The victim was immediately rushed to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.
“Unfortunately, the victim gave up the ghost and was confirmed dead by medical doctor on duty. Immediately, a team of detectives swung into action and one Aminu Lawal ‘M’, popularly known as “Aminu Yayyafi”, was arrested and he confessed to the crime.
“Efforts are being intensified to arrest his accomplices; they will soon be prosecuted in line with the relevant laws as soon as the investigation is completed,” it stated.
The police report added that the Commissioner of Police has directed the Area Commander metropolitan, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and other tactical teams to be immediately deployed to the area to act decisively and hunt down the remaining suspects.
CP also stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of his gang, while investigation continues to ensure all those involved are brought to justice, while urging members of the public to remain calm that police are on top of the situation.
