The Kaduna State Chapter of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has suspended its Chairman, Muhammad Lawal Sultan, for six months over acts of ‘gross misconducts.’

In a release, signed by its Secretary, Dr Joshua Madaki, made available to newsmen in Kaduna Monday, the SWC of the party has appointed Honorable Jumare Tanimu Magaji in an acting capacity, pending the expiration of the six-month suspension.

The party said, the suspension followed a meeting in which it deliberated on the conduct of Sultan’s leadership over the months, and found him wanting against the explicit provisions of the NNPP constitution.

“The suspension is based on relevant provisions of the NNPP constitution that borders on gross acts of misconducts that violated its provisions.”

It further stated that, the Acting Chairman, Jumare, was a Councilor in 1999-2002 under APP; Member Kaduna State House of Assembly, from 2007 to 2009, under ANPP, and contested for House of Representatives three times.

In 2012, he was an adviser to Lere Local Government Chairman. Before his recent appointment, he was the State Treasurer of the NNPP.

“He is a man of principle and proven integrity, who believes in carrying people along, and has the conscience of the NNPP at heart.

“As a unifier, the SWC believes he would allow his wealth of democratic experience and leverage to unify and defend the NNPP interests in the state and beyond.”

The release stated that the SWC has equally notified all relevant stakeholders, including the NNPP National Secretariat, the INEC, the State Police, the DSS, and Civil Defence Corps.

The Secretary warned the suspended Chairman, Sultan, to desist from parading himself as Kaduna NNPP Chairman henceforth, while cautioning anyone not to have any business dealing with him in the name of the party within the stipulated six months’ period, saying, “Anyone, who does so, is at his risk.”
