The Kaduna State Government has launched a Health Insurance Scheme for its pensioners in the state.
The scheme, which was unveiled on Monday at the Ministry of Health Conference Hall in Kaduna, is a partnership between the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) and the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP).
Speaking at the launch, the state commissioner for health, Umma Ahmed, said the scheme was designed to provide comprehensive and affordable healthcare coverage to pensioners and to reduce the financial burden of medical expenses.
She commended Governor Uba Sani for his commitment to the Contributory Health Scheme and the welfare of pensioners in the state.
Ahmed emphasized that, the partnership between KADCHMA and the Nigerian Union of Pensioners was a strategic initiative that aligned with the state’s vision of universal health coverage for all residents.
Director-General of KADCHMA, Abubakar Hassan, said the scheme would provide pensioners with access to healthcare services from any public or private health facility across the state without incurring out-of-pocket expenses.
“The scheme is a result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between KADCHMA, the Kaduna State Pension Bureau, and the Nigerian Union of Pensioners,” he added.
Speaking further, Hassan commended the partners for embracing the scheme and working together to ensure that pensioners have access to the healthcare they deserve.
