Chairman Chikun LGA of Kaduna State, Hon. Engr. Salasi Nuhu Musa, has empowered 250 students of higher education institutions of learning from the LG with financial support of N40,000 each.
The chairman made the disclosure in a speech during an interaction with the beneficiaries on Friday at Wusilli Hotel, in Sabon Tasha area of Chikun Local Government.
He said the gesture was also aimed at supporting Governor Uba Sani’s education development to encourage students in his LG on their educational pursuit in various higher education institutions.
The chairman stated that his administration commenced the empowerment support program with 50 students in 2022, 200 students in 2023 and 250 in 2024, and decided to make it with interaction with 250 students in 2025 for the first time.
“This is the first time we felt it will be nice we have interaction with you. This is a momentous occasion, a testament to the unwavering support of our amiable Governor, Senator Uba Sani, who believes that investment in human capital is one of the best efforts,” he said.
While he commended the governor for the support for Chikun LG, the chairman expressed satisfaction for fulfilling his promises to the people of the Chikun LG for prioritizing education.
According to him, the initiative is part of their commitment to provide human capital development and empowerment, saying, he had previously supported 3,000 students to write their JAMB.
He also promised to continue to prioritize and invest in education through classroom constructions, renovation and infrastructural development.
The chairman further stated that their administration is committed to touching lives through providing tangible projects across the 12 wards of the LG.
“I’m thrilled to also report that Governor Uba Sani-led government is initiating various projects in the Chikun LG, including roads infrastructure, hospital renovation, amongst other laudable projects of immense benefits to the people,” he said, urging students to acquire skills in addition to their education.
Two of the students, a male and female, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the chairman for the empowerment, and prayed God Almighty to redouble his efforts and uplift him to further higher positions.
In a vote of thanks, the vice chairman of Chikun LG advised the students to utilize the monitory empowerment judiciously for the benefits of their education, in order to better their future life.
While the chairman, Engr Musa, assured all the students of receiving their money before evening of the Saturday, some of the students had already admitted to have received their bank alerts (of undisclosed amount), while at the venue of the interaction.
Hon. Musa, while also appealing to his colleagues to emulate his gesture and invest in education of students of their LGs, noted that no developed nation of the world could do without quality of education of its citizenry.
