The Kaduna State Police Command says it has rescued a 58-year-old Mr. Philibus Matthew, who is a resident of Ungwan Kedaw, in Ikara LGA of Kaduna State, describing it as significant breakthrough in the fight against crime.
A Police statement, signed by the Command’s spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, on Friday, stated that the victim, Mr Matthew, fell to a heinous kidnapping incident.
“Mr. Matthew,” according to the release, “was abducted on the 24th of March, 2024, at about 12:45hrs by a group of unidentified gunmen, numbering about 12, armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons.
“He was, however, rescued, following swift and coordinated efforts by the Police, as the kidnapped victim was located in Ungwar Gajere, Sabon Garin Daji area of Makarfi LGA of Kaduna State.
“Without hesitation, the police operatives embarked on a daring rescue operation, skillfully navigating the terrain to reach the secluded hut where he was being held captive by his abductors.
“With bravery and precision, they swiftly and successfully rescued Mr. Matthew from captivity, reuniting him with his family,” it stated.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP), Ali Audu Dabigi, psc, commends the dedicated police operatives whose swift action led to the successful rescue of Mr. Matthew. He also urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.”
