The Member representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Asama, has expressed happiness over the success story of Miss Lisha Seleme that has just brought the state to world Guinness Book of Records because of her ingenuity of painting nails she did for 72 hours without harassment steamed from insecurity, which is a pointer to the world that the state is conducive for business, contrary to what they are ‘selling’ to the outside world.

Miss Lisha Seleme Dachor

Hon Asama buttressed thus: “I saw Plateau as a peaceful place. Miss  Lisha has proved to us that Plateau is a place of peace and tourism. What she has just done is part of hospitality business; so, for me at the National Assembly I will not bow down to pressure; we will continue to talk about the lady’s exploit.

He was speaking to newsmen during the World Press Freedom at Crispan Hotel Jos, recently, when he also said that, he was at the conference to motivate and encourage nail technician on her breakthrough on Guinness Book of Records’ nail painting and fixing, which lasted for 72 hours, held at Crispan Shop, on 3rd April, 2024.

According to him, he has plans to introducing many projects that would touch physical and infrastructural developments in his Constituency and, by extension, entire Plateau State, among which is empowerment that Miss Lisha Seleme Dachor has just broken the jinx.

He stated further that he was not able to know of the event and the struggle of the young lady, especially financially, but have to take off from Abuja early on Friday, 3rd May, 2024, to catch up with the World Media Briefing organized to celebrate her feat.

Hon. Daniel Asama

While congratulating her, he promised to assist in whatever little way he can for her making Plateau proud.

Hon. Daniel Asama also urged Nigerians to stop campaign of stereotype and branding Plateau State as “conflicts zone” where only but three Local Government Councils are affected.

He condemned reports filtering airwaves describing the State as “toga of insecurity” that chases away potential investors, owning to information available to the public domain.

The Member said, “Plateau State still maintains its motto as “Home of Peace and Tourism,” which cannot be changed, despite the level of enemies of the state working hard to create fear and panic.

“We have 17 local governments and cannot join to brand the state with insecurity, because two out of the 17 Local Governments are being faced with security challenges, which is grossly unfair,” he noted.

According to him, “It is very annoying to see those that are not from Plateau State talking about insecurity in the state when they have not even visited the state in their entire life time.

“I did not want to leave in denial. I am quite aware that the state is having some sorts of security breach; now it has become National and International Issues, which is wrong. So, I dispel the ideas with passion – that, Plateau is not facing security challenges as painted differently,” he lamented.

Hon Asama stressed that, “Governor Mutfwang’s administration is trying its best when you talk about issues of security in the state; and to be fair to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he is not looking other way over the insecurity in the state, as they are jointly doing things to mitigate every trouble in the state.”

He frowned at those fanning embers of  insecurity trumpet out of proportion, stressed that the State is made up of 17 local government; so, the fact that 1 out of 2 local governments is currently grappling with (in)securing should not mean the state is not secure for business.

“Our peace is relative and there is no absolute peace in any place in the world. The peace we are talking about is not absence of peace or trouble, it’s ability to maneuver the trouble,” he said.

He revealed that his first motion at the National Assembly is on security, saying, “Because I have to do that which is about community policing, because I am coming from the North Central of the country, which insecurity is perceived to be pronounced.”

He stressed that “The National Assembly in few weeks back commenced debate on community policing bill to see how we can mitigate on the issue of insecurity in Plateau State in particular, and Nigeria as a whole.”

Hon. Asama added that members whose zones are mostly affected by security problems are not sleeping over the issue to see that the monsters known as ‘insecurity’ currently bedeviling the entire country are brought to a halt.
