KADUNA STATE: Group, under the aegis of the ‘Grassroots Initiative for Good Governance and Development’ (GIGG&D), has emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing healthcare challenges through community-driven efforts to make life meaningful.

The emphasis was made during an Easter Medical Outreach by the group at Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

The outreach that was extended to the nearby Child Welfare Primary Health Care (PHC) Centre, along Emir’s Palace, was aimed at improving patients’ comfort and to contribute to their healing process.

In a season that reflects sacrifice, love, and compassion, the group showed kindness and generosity to patients in the pediatric, maternity, and accident and emergency wards, many of whom are among the most vulnerable in society.

Items donated include detergents, washing soap, Izal disinfectants, safety gloves, diapers, tissue papers, sanitary pads, and cash donations, among others.

Speaking during the donation, convener of the group, Mr. Mathias Avong, stated that the items provided were expected to ease some of the daily challenges faced by both patients and healthcare workers, reinforcing the importance of community care in times of need.

Mr. Avong also appealed to corporate organizations, humanitarian groups, and well-meaning individuals to remember the sick, the less-privileged, and the vulnerable not only during festive periods, but at all times.

Nursing mothers, including Mrs. Agnes Christopher, Stella Julius, Justina Kefas, and Lababatu Hamza, as well as a father, Mr. David Enjo, expressed appreciation to the group and prayed for God’s blessings and continued provision for the organization.

For many of the beneficiaries, the visit was more than just material support; it served as a reminder that they are not alone in their struggles, bringing comfort, encouragement, and renewed hope.

Healthcare workers, including Nurse Agnes Gwafan and Grace Dangas commended the group for the humanitarian gesture, noting that such initiatives will go a long way in complementing government efforts in healthcare service delivery.

In his response, the Hospital Secretary, Mr. Rayyanu Sanusi, praised the organization for its support to vulnerable people.

He encouraged the continuation of such initiatives, stressing the need for well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture for the socio-economic growth and development of the country.

Earlier, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Shul-Nom Yohanna Bako, noted that the outreach reflects the organization’s determination to “always stand with people,” especially in difficult times.

GIGG&D, themed, ‘Empowering Communities and Enhancing Good Governance,’ is an organization whose strength is rooted in integrity and whose reach embraces diversity.
