…Isah Pantami delivers ‘forgiveness, unity’ sermon in north.
by Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna
Despite an earlier rejection of Governor Uba Sani’s condolence messages by el-Rufai’s family, his three arch-political opponents, Governor Uba Sani – in company of Senator Shehu Sani, and Mal. Nuhu Ribadu – have personally paid condolence visit to the Abuja family residence of el-Rufai, over the death of their mother.
During the visit on Sunday, amidst heavy crowds of mourners and sympathizers, Governor Sani and el-Rufai had a fruitful condolence handshake with the deceased families and other political gladiators watching it away with anticipations.
el-Rufai’s mother, Hajiya Ummah, who died in Cairo, Egypt, had to be transported home in Nigeria by el-Rufai family, which caused some slight delay of the burial of the body.
At the burial (Jannaizah) of Mallam Nasiru Ahmed el-Rufai’s mother (Hajiya Ummah), Professor Isah Pantami delivered a Nasiha (Sermon) to the hundreds of power holders in the North about the need for them to let go of hatred towards one another, unite for a good cause and never begrudge one another over worldly reasons.
He reminded them of the hadith in which the Prophet (PBUH) mentioned that ‘ALLAH-SWT does not forgive two people on the Day of Judgment,’ those who died holding grudges against each other for worldly or any other reasons.
“This teaches us that forgiving one another, if anything, is for our own good, not for anyone else, as it is a favor to ourselves. No matter how long we live or what we have in this world, we will not live in it forever. Therefore, we should forgive one another, let go of our differences in all forms and live peacefully.
“Therefore, I found his nasiha timely, and I pray that it will end the grudges some of them hold against one another, especially those from Kaduna.
“As for Senator Uba Sani, Senator Shehu Sani, and Mall Nuhu Ribadu, I appreciate their sense of maturity,” he stated, saying, “Attending the Jannaizah is an act of responsibility.
“May God forgive his mother’s shortcomings and unite them in AL-Jannatul AL-Firdausi; Aameen,” he concluded.
